Yonex VCORE Duel G 100 (300g) Review
Upsides
- Swings very fast
- Powerful on most shots
- Spin friendly
Downsides
- Harder to create power on serves
Summary
The impressive family of Duel G rackets boasts a new, larger head size. The Yonex Duel G 100 is the perfect addition to the line-up. New Tough G fiber technology is placed in throat of the racket to help the racket return energy to the ball, while the classic Yonex Isometric square head shape enlarges the sweetspot for a more forgiving response. Additionally, the 16x20 string pattern adds power and spin to every shot. From the baseline, the playtesters tapped into power and spin. Even more impressive was the stability this lightweight racket possessed. Up at net, the playtesters could punch their volleys deep in the court or soft their hands for a shorter, angled shot. Return of serves were a breeze because the racket came around the body fast. However, the playtesters were all in agreement that the VCORE Duel G 100 lacked some mass. Being on the lighter end of the Duel G rackets at 315g ounces strung, this racket is the perfect platform for customizing. All in all, players looking for power, spin and manoeuvrability should look no further than the Yonex VCORE Duel G 100.

Overall - Score: 81/100
Groundstrokes - Score: 84 / 100
The highlights of Yonex VCORE Duel G 100 on groundstrokes were power, manoeuvrability and spin. The playtesters were impressed with how easy it was to use from the very first hit. The playtesters also noticed how easy it was to generate pace and their groundstrokes were landing deep in the court. Adding spin to the playtesters groundstrokes was effortless with the Duel G 100. Even with its light weight, the racket was stable as the racket felt firm upon contact with the ball. The one small knock the playtesters found was that the racket lacked some and their slices were floating more than they would have liked.
Volleys - Score: 80 / 100
Coming up to net, the Yonex VCORE Duel G 100 was quick and fast feeling in the hands of the playtesters. The playtesters overall enjoyed punching their volleys deep in the court to finish the point. However, there was still enough feel to hit some half volleys or shorter drop volleys. Several playtesters noticed some instability with the light weight racket especially when hitting the ball outside the sweetspot.
Serves - Score: 78 / 100
The playtesters couldn't quite get into a groove on their serves with the Yonex VCORE Duel G 100 and were missing some free power they got received off their groundstrokes. While they did tap into some spin potential, they were left wanting a little more pace. On the positive side, they could generate racket head speed and found they could be very accurate with the placement on the serves. One playtester suggested customising to add a little more mass in the hoop.
Serve Returns - Score: 81 / 100
The TW playtesters were unanimous when it came to returns; the Yonex VCORE Duel G 100 was extremely manoeuvrable. In fact, it was so manoeuvrable that the playtesters had a small adjustment with returns as they were finding themselves ahead of the ball. There was plenty of pace and the playtesters could be aggressive on their returns. However, the firm feel of the racket split the playtesters, and some enjoyed the firmer feel while others were wanting a softer response.

Chris- "I loved the light and fast response from the baseline. This was a very confidence inspiring racket, and I played very consistently with it. "
Jason- "Very manoeuvrable, easy to swing, powerful and good access to spin. I also liked the solid feel and responsiveness of the racket. A great racket to play around with customization. "
Dislikes:
Brittany- "I wasn't the biggest fan of serving with it. "
Tiffani- "The feel was rather firm, and I struggled finding my range when hitting approach shots. "
Chris- "Lacked power on serves. "
Jason- "Lacks power on serves and slight torsional instability issues with off-centre shots. "
Comparing it to other rackets they've used, our testers said:
Brittany- "Compared to the EZONE DR 100, I found this racket to be more powerful and manoeuvrable. The EZONE DR 100 offered more control and plow through. Other similar rackets include the Volkl Super G V1 Pro and the Wilson Ultra 100. "
Tiffani- "I think this racket swings faster and hits with pace more readily than the Yonex EZONE DR 100. Both have a similarly firm feel even though the Duel G version measures with a lower stiffness rating on the Babolat RDC. "
Chris- "I would compare this racket to the Prince Textreme Tour 100T. Both offer a nice blend of power and control. Both rackets also feel very light and easy to maneuver yet somehow manage to also feel solid. Overall, I slightly prefer the Prince, but both are great rackets. "
Jason- "A slightly faster swinging version of the Duel G 97 (310g). Also has very similar characteristics of the Prince Textreme Warrior 100. "
