Overview

Yonex adds another chapter to the extended length version of the VCORE 98. At 69,8cm long, this racket takes the raw precision of the standard length version and adds some extra plow-through and pop. With its 340 RDC swingweight, the VCORE 98+ is designed for the advanced player who wants a racket that doesn't get pushed around when the pace goes up. It should also work for the strong intermediate player who doesn't mind trading some maneuverability for a more solid feel at impact. For 2018, the VCORE 98+ gets a more open and spin-friendly string pattern (from 16x20 to 16x19). To cut wind drag, Yonex has expanded the location of its Aero Fin grooves to include not just the upper hoop but also the lower portion of the head. This technology is complemented by an Aero Trench grommet system that submerges the grommets to further reduce wind resistance. The upshot of these technologies is easier acceleration, which will help you load the ball with pace and spin. The VCORE 98+ also gets updated with a material called Namd, which is a uniquely flexible graphite designed to increase frame torque, ball pocketing and spin. As with the previous generation, the VCORE 98+ packs a hefty swingweight (340 RDC). As a result, you'll not only have the needed mass to redirect the pace of a big hitter, but you'll find impressive power on full swings. There is also plenty of spin to be had thanks to the open 16x19 string pattern. At net, the VCORE 98+ doesn't come around as fast as the standard length version, but it feels decidedly more solid at impact. It also provides the aggressive server with a dangerous combination of spin, precision and power. Ultimately, the VCORE 98+ remains an obvious choice for strong intermediates and advanced players who want a powerfully precise weapon.

Grading Scale

Grade A - Excellent

Racket is in excellent condition. It exhibits very little use; wear is evident on grip and grommets only. May have minor paint defects.

Grade B - Great

Racket is in great condition. It has been used and shows some minor cosmetic wear on the frame. Does not exhibit wear from play that exposes graphite. Frame is not damaged from strings as a result of poor grommet care.

Grade C - Good

Racket is in good condition. Exhibits clear wear from groundstrokes in multiple places on the frame. May have paint chips and/or may have a very small amount of graphite exposed from play.

Grade D - Good
