Overview

Yonex updates the VCORE PRO 97 (310) with a sleek matte green cosmetic along with some impressive updates to the shaft and dampening technology. Ideal for intermediate and advanced players, this racket gives you the great feel and precision of the heavier 330 model (endorsed by Wawrinka), but it comes in a more maneuverable and user-friendly package. For this generation of the VCORE PRO franchise, Yonex implements an Improved Throat Design, which combines a thinner and longer shaft with a lowered throat, resulting in more torque, dwell time and spin-potential. Also new to this series is a Vibration Dampening Mesh (VDM), which is fully integrated into the handle in order to reduce unwanted vibrations for a cleaner feel at impact. From the baseline, this racket feels great at impact, and it rewards full swings with pinpoint accuracy. Although it doesn't have quite the plow-through or mass-based pop of the heavier VCORE PRO 97 (330), experienced players who make their own power will have the precision to swing big and load the ball with pace. It's also fast enough for chasing down balls and executing shots on the run. At net and on service returns, the 97 (310) offers the best of both worlds. It comes around with decent speed but still packs enough stability to comfortably redirect higher levels of pace. You'll also find enough control on serve to swing big and paint the corners of the service box. Players looking for a speedy and precise player's racket should give this stick a serious look.
