Overview

Head delivers a slightly softer version of the original Hawk. This co-poly has Head's unique Crystal Core technology, featuring a pliable inner core surrounded by a firm outer shell. The result is a string that is firm enough to deliver exceptional control, but also muted enough to reduce the harshest vibrations. The low-powered response will allow big hitters to take huge cuts at the ball, a fact that bodes well for those who want to ratchet up the spin. This is a great option for strong intermediate and advanced level players who are looking for a very precise and accurate response when the stroke speed goes up.

Comments: This is a very good string for me, but only as a hybrid. I tried a full string bed and was not a keen fan, it was not bad, but there are other strings around for me which are much better and less expensive (for instance Volkl Cyclone orange 1.25 mm). However, when I used it in the mains at 52 lbs with Volkl Power Fibre II 1.25 mm at 50 lbs in the crosses, I was extremely pleasantly surprised about the outcome: control, feel, spin, pace, comfort and durability all at a very high level. I also like the level of power this combination provides as it is power under control (spin), but I am playing the Yonex VCORE SV 98 (305g), maybe on a less power-orientated racquet I would want more power from my string. All in all, a great combination for me and in it, the Head Hawk Touch really stands out!

Comments: Ok string. After 2 sessions it felt dead so although comfort was not an issue you'll be restringing it very often to maintain playability. But I think that is most poly strings anyway. I am a synthetic or multi user. I got this for free as a demo string and decided to try it. Great consistency when fresh. Also noticed sweetspot shrunk compared to usual strings. Power is there when you hit through the ball but when you whip up with a very vertical swing path the power is completely sapped.

Comments: College player here. I used this string for about 6 months. I can't say enough good things about the feel of the string. It is just rock solid. Unfortunately where it failed for me was its durability. If you swing with any sort of racquet head speed and shank a ball, the string WILL break. Eventually I just got tired of dealing with broken strings after fighting off a tough spin serve or mishitting a ball randomly.

Comments: If you want a comfortable poly this is about the best you will find. Multifilament like feel. You can string this up at traditional higher tensions 56 to 62 lbs and still have comfort but experience the brilliant ball control and spin of a tight poly bed. Don't string this one low, it's not necessary. Also not necessary to do a hybrid, it will work better as a full bed. Strung on an XT Radical MP at 57 lbs.

Comments: This string was in a demo I used and I wasn't thrilled with it since I have had elbow issues in the past and thought it didn't make sense for a 3.5+ player to use a poly. I found it be very arm friendly when hybriding it with Sensation in the crosses strung at 54 lbs. It has extremely good spin potential and pop. Biggest downside came from returning slower second serves to the forehand but I think that will come. Needless to say I bought the racquet (Head Speed Adaptive) and used the same strings and my arm feels great.

Comments: Very, very great string! Great topspin with nice comfort. Using it in a hybrid in the mains with Babolat Xcel in the crosses (51/53 lbs) strung in my Head Graphene Touch Speed Pro. Nice pop and control as well.
From:Roger, 3/8/17

Comments: I used Head Hawk Touch in the crosses with Xcel 16 in the mains in a Pure Aero. Overall, very nice spin and feel. The control was excellent and the tension maintenance is pretty good for a polyester. It is a little lower powered even for a polyester but the control is ample enough so that you can just drop the tension. Overall, a very nice string from Head.
From:Shintaro, 11/16

Comments: It is a really excellent string. Offers very good control and good topspin. You only need to generate your own power. I use it in my Head Graphene Instinct and it has amazing control. No balls fly out.
From:Yasser, 9/16

Comments: I have been using this string for a while and I really like it. I use the 17 gauge and the string has good power and control for a poly. I think it has exceptional touch. Though I don't have arm issues, my wife does and this string is very comfortable for a poly, so it's also a good choice if you want comfort without the control loss of going to a multifilament. I use it in my Graphene XT Radical Pro at 54 lbs.
From:Ron, 6/16

Comments: This string does everything well but it's exceptional in the feel and comfort department. The feedback is superb so you get so much confidence that your level will definitely increase, at least it does in my experience. I strung it in the 30 lbs and I will drop it even more next time for increased spin, feel and comfort. I'm using it in a Pro Staff 97S.

Comments: Almost always, the really negative string reviews are due to the player using a string and/or tension that's not appropriate for their needs. In the case of Head Hawk Touch though, I agree completely with Bobby below. This is a pointless string that does nothing well. At this price, it's value is negligible at best.It is fairly soft though.Picking any string at random is a better bet.
From:Jeff, 12/15

Comments: Quite possibly the most pointless polys made in the past few years. Having tried about 20 polys, Hawk Touch is the poorest I've tried yet. They play fine and soft, as advertised, when brand new but have a useful life of literally 1-2 hours. After one use they start to get dull and sluggish extremely quickly making them a terrible option for anyone who chose them out of consideration for tennis/golfer's elbow. They also have very low spin potential. Almost any other poly would be better than this. If you need a softer string either string looser or make the switch to synthetic gut.
From:Bobby, 11/15

Comments: I just recently switched to these strings after 20 plus years of using old multis (mostly Gamma Professional). These strings are a vast improvement. They offer tremendous control and very good spin for topspin or slice. The feel is very soft with good touch almost as good as my old Gamma strings. After several hours, in I see very little drop in tension maintenance. Granted these are my first and only polys I have played with, I would highly recommend them -- Head did a superb job designing this one. I am a 4.0 to 4.5 player.
