Overview

Like the original Kinetic Pro 5G, the Ki 5 (320g) is ideal for intermediate and advanced ball strikers. At 320 grams this is a modern player's racket with above average stability and plow-through. It also has the uniquely arm-friendly feel that comes with ProKennex's legendary Kinetic Technology. With the Ki 5 (320g) ProKennex introduces a special nano resin called Reactonyl. This unique material is used in the firm Spiral Tech Carbon layup to create fewer impurities and air bubbles. The result is a cleaner, more solid feel when striking the ball,. On groundstrokes the Ki 5 delivers a unique blend of comfort and precision. The near 340 gram strung weight not only gives this stick good stability when your opponent's pace goes up, but it puts some useful mass into your shot, resulting in decent put-away power on full cuts. Players looking to crank up the spin should love the whippy headlight balance and grippy 16x20 string bed. At net this racket offers the best of both worlds. It comes around with impressive speed but doesn't feel unstable or flimsy when redirecting pace. Aggressive servers will find enough pop, precision and spin to work every corner of the service box. This version of the Ki 5 continues to offer big hitters a solid weapon for crushing the ball. The unique combination of speed, stability and comfort should turn some heads.

Comments: ProKennex is by far the best racquet brand for tennis elbow. Originally purchased the Ki 5 315 in 2015 and strung with Technifibre NRG2 17 @ 56 pounds (range 52-68). Purchased the 320 in June 2018 and strung it with NRG2 17 at 55 pounds (range 50-65). Initially it seemed to have less power on groundstrokes with many shots landing well inside the baseline. This was okay for doubles but was a problem when playing a heavy hitter in singles. So I generally use my old Wilson N5 Triad for singles. With time, the 320 now seems to play much better with enough power and plenty of control. I may try to string lighter or add tape to the 12 o'clock position. Senior player over 75, 3.5.

Comments: I demoed both this and the 300 model. Coming from two generation old 315 version, I would say this one feels slightly softer and slightly more head light. Those are two of my goals in finding a new racquet. The third was to go lighter. The 300 model did that but is slightly stiffer than my 315. Ultimately, I decided to go with the 320 because with a little less lead, I am near the same weight as before but with a slightly softer response and a slightly more headlight frame. Anyone who has their own power, but needs control and arm friendly response should give this one or the 300 a go!
